Celebrate Dutch Design Week in San Francisco at the Seeing Orange Kick-Off event, hosted by Dutch fashion denim brand, G-Star in their shop near Union Square. Music, drinks and light refreshments will be provided.
G-Star celebrates Seeing Orange: Dutch Design Week SF, by organizing a Raw Denim Dutch Design Competition. Contest contributors receive an identical piece of raw denim fabric with the challenge to use this fabric to convey their interpretation of the Dutch aesthetic. G-Star will present these San Francisco inspired creations at the Seeing Orange Kick-Off event in their store on Geary Street. Each participating designer will have the option to sell their one-of-a-kind piece in a silent auction, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting a local charity.

Seeing Orange: Dutch Design Week SF presents a Dutch Design Bike Tour, with starting point at My Dutch Bike, 575 Market Street, San Francisco, CA .
What better way could there be to discover Dutch design in San Francisco than by hopping on a bike? Seeing Orange: Dutch Design Week SF begins with a bike tour, led by San Francisco-based architect David Baker and urban planner Robert Bregoff. The tour will be making stops at retailers throughout the city where you can find Dutch design items, including Gazelle bikes at My Dutch Bike, G-Star Raw clothing at their shop near Union Square, and furnishings by Moooi and other top Dutch designers at Propeller.

G-Star unveiled a new ad campaign for Spring/Summer 2010 fronted by Liv Tyler. When Shubhankar Ray, G-Star Creative Brand Director, was asked why Liv Tyler, he said, "She’s a strong, beautiful and independent woman. We believe that Liv has a level of sensuality and this is very important for how we want to position G-Star within the women’s context." The Dutch denim brand plans to expand from 12 stores to 50 stores in the U.S. The campaign, photographed by Anton Corbijn, will hit the magazines in February 2010.
