IN.FLEC.TION – a turning away from a position – a manner of expressing oneself

Showing 13 artists who have nothing in common, except that they meet monthly to critique each other’s work. These discussions are open, incisive, tough, fair, generous and tremendously helpful.

There are no gallerists or curators included. The meetings are about making art and the unwavering commitment to make the best possible art and to extend ones insights through intensive discussion and trust of each other.

IN.FLEC.TION is their show, curated among themselves, installed together and proudly exhibited by HVCCA.

Double Dutch – Group exhibition with work by 16 Dutch artists at Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art – Peekskill, NY

September 12th, 2009 by

September 12, 2009 – July 26, 2010

An exhibition celebrating the Quadricentennial of the Dutch discovery and settlement of the Hudson River and its environs, the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA), in Peekskill, New York, will showcase contemporary Dutch installation art, opening on September 12, 2009 until July 26, 2010.

Sixteen artists will be shown in a space of 11,000 sf. with 24 foot high ceilings. The exhibition will extend to the Hudson River waterfront where several major, site specific works will be shown. The selection involves artists with great promise – most have never exhibited in the US.

Much of the work has been created specifically for this exhibition, including work by three artists who came to Peekskill for the HVCCA artist-in-residence program. This program provides artists with the opportunity to create long-term installations, as well as the opportunity to interact through panel discussions & dialogues with the community. To date the program has been limited to artists who have never before exhibited in a US institution.

The artists in the exhibition are
Marc Bijl, Martha Colburn, Fendry Ekel, Dylan Graham, Folkert de Jong, Job Koelewijn, Maartje Korstanje, Alon Levin, Erik van Lieshout, Serge Onnen, Daan Padmos, Karen Sargsyan, Lara Schnitger, Jennifer Tee, Rob Voerman, Guido van der Werve
